The Catskill Mountain region of New York is a geological diverse region: from high peaks supporting only limited vegetation to wide valleys with well-drained soil and lush vegetation. Within these valleys are located glacial till which is harvested for sand and gravel for local construction projects. Catskill Region Surveying Services (CRSS) has surveyed, mapped, and planned several gravel and sand mines.
Usually regulated by the Town Planning Board, approval is also required from the New York State Department of Conservation. The Army Corps of Engineers and New York City Department of Environmental Protection also comment on the proposed mine. Global Positioning System (G.P.S.) and traditional survey equipment is utilized for the measuring. Existing conditions and mining plans are prepared with Civil 3D, an AutoCAD platform software. Approvals are for a five-year term.
Our goal is to provide our clients with cost-effective, accurate, timely solutions to their Mining Permit needs.
